La Trobe University's Research Focus Area (RFA) in Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation welcomed over 70 guests to the first 'PhD Showcase Event'.
The exhibition of posters displayed the impressive research work of 33 PhD students, each participant was available throughout the night to curate their work.
Professor Russell Hoye, Director of the RFA said that the initiative and participants of the event delivered exactly what was promised.
"The event provided an opportunity for prospective PhD students to explore opportunities for future study, for our own PhD students to meet their counterparts from across the university and engage in some professional development by preparing a poster on their project, and for RFA members to see the great projects underway in other disciplines and to network."
The diverse range of projects covered topics from the following research areas:
- Exercise Physiology
- Exercise science
- Outdoor Education
- Physical Education
- Prosthetics and Orthotics
- Sport Journalism
- Sport Management
Industry partners such as the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI) and VicSport showed their support of the RFA by attending and providing key information surrounding a wide range of services and opportunities available through the partnerships with La Trobe.
Overall, the event was well received by all involved and will remain as a regular event for the RFA.
