RED is excited to announce that we are now offering a range of programs via the digital learning platform, Collaborate. This will allow candidates and researchers to access our workshops from any campus or location, substantially broadening the opportunities for part-time and regionally-based colleagues.
Another great advantage of using Collaborate is that it will provide candidates in all locations with equal opportunity to interact with each other and the presenters, unlike the inequitable situation that arises via video-conferencing.
Setting up Collaborate
Using Collaborate is simple, but it does require some basic setting up.
You will need to download and install the Blackboard Collaborate Launcher prior to any scheduled session. Blackboard Collaborate requires the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to be installed on your computer. Follow these steps to set up collaborate on your system:
- click on the following Blackboard testing link
- choose the option to 'download the Blackboard Collaborate Launcher'. Work through the steps to install the launcher
- once the launcher is installed, open the meeting.collab file (you may need to click on the link above again to start this). You should end up within the Blackboard Collaborate Configuration Room
- if you get stuck, contact the Edtech Support desk via their online request form.
