Living allowance scholarships

Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Scholarships

La Trobe University offers a number of living allowance stipends to students undertaking full-time research degrees through the Australian Government's Research Training Program.

Awards are made according to academic merit and a consideration of targeted areas of research strength at the University. The University will prioritise applications from Australian or New Zealand citizens or Australian Permanent Residents who have attained at least the equivalent of a first class honours degree at an Australian university or recognised overseas university.

The closing date for applications is 31 October for the main round and 30 April for the mid-year scholarship round.

The RTP Stipend Scholarship provides a living allowance in addition to the RTP Fees Offset Scholarship paid directly to the University by the Australian Government to offset costs for tuition and institutional support of your studies. Please note that an RTP Fees Offset Scholarship is not a paid stipend and not all candidates in receipt of a Fees Offset Scholarship will receive a Stipend Scholarship.

In 2019, the RTP Stipend is AU$27,596 per annum full-time, or AU$13,798 per annum part-time (taxable).
