Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT)
La Trobe ranks highly in the Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) surveys funded by the Australian Government and administered by the Social Research Centre. The surveys cover a range of areas in higher education, including student satisfaction and employment outcomes. The following rankings refer to Australian Universities only and exclude Non-University Higher Education Institutions.
2017-2019 Employer Satisfaction Survey (ESS)
92.2 per cent of employers rated La Trobe graduates highly for their ability to adapt and apply their knowledge, and to work independently, the second highest rating in Victoria and the seventh in the country.
Employers also ranked La Trobe second in Victoria and tenth in Australia for foundation skills such as literacy and numeracy, with 94.4 per cent of employers agreeing La Trobe graduates excel in these areas.
The ESS reports the views of more than 4,000 direct supervisors regarding their perception of recent graduates from Australian higher education institutions.
2019 Graduate Outcomes Survey (GOS)
QILT’s 2019 Graduate Outcomes Survey highlights the employability of La Trobe’s postgraduate students, with our 2017-2019 postgraduate (research) graduates having the highest work force participation in Victoria, and fifth highest in Australia.
Our postgraduate (coursework) graduates ranked second in Victoria and third in Australia for work force participation, with 98.4 per cent of graduates available to work in the labour force and 94.1 per cent of graduates employed.
The GOS is completed by graduates of Australian higher education institutions approximately four months after completion of their courses.
