About our cybersecurity hub
The La Trobe Cybersecurity Research Hub at La Trobe University was established in 2018 and has developed out of the partnership between Optus Business and La Trobe University. The Research Hub has multi-disciplinary research agenda in Cybersecurity. Its purpose is to enable La Trobe University to have academic input into the growing national cybersecurity eco-system and to become a thought leader from research, teaching and socio-technical development perspectives.
One of the major cybersecurity problems that Australia and its allies contend with is the large volume of attacks on government and industry. Especially across the whole Critical Infrastructure (CI) of Australia and Systems of National Interest (SNI). The CI and SNI sectors underpin Australia's:
- banking and finance
- defence
- communications
- energy
- resources
- transport
- water.
Our mission
Through high quality research, teaching, training and practice we will expand knowledge in the highly specialised field and work toward meeting the growing demand for cybersecurity experts.
Our focus
We have sought niche specific cybersecurity, cyber law and cyber intelligence research areas that will deliver a comparative and competitive advantage for Australian cybersecurity R&D.
We are strengthening partnerships with research institutions, government and industry to scale current efforts, leverage shared ideas, target research towards keys emerging challenges, and guide R&D towards strategic outcomes.
We are working with Optus Business and SMEs to link cybersecurity R&D with commercialisation expertise.
We are building research-based expertise for Australia's cybersecurity skills pipeline by connecting STEM education, research and job opportunities.
