National quality framework
The Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) is an independent statutory authority responsible for regulating and assuring the quality of Australia's higher education sector. TEQSA also registers and evaluates the performance of higher education providers against the Higher Education Standards Framework - specifically, the Threshold Standards, which all providers must meet.
The Threshold Standards are:
- Provider Registration Standards
- Provider Category Standards
- Provider Accreditation Standards
- Qualification Standards
La Trobe is registered with TEQSA as a self-accrediting public University and under its seven year cycle of registration and accreditation La Trobe University's registration expires in September 2016. In applying for re-registration, the University is required to provide evidence that it meets the Provider Registration Standards.
