We contribute to our communities, both locally and internationally, through our expertise in social justice, equity, and power in society. We produce expert research that informs academic debates, government policy and public interest advocacy across the broad range of areas covered by our programs.
We have fostered a collaborative teaching and research environment and see our interdisciplinary system as a strength, empowering departmental members to contribute to the important social and political issues of our time.
We embrace flexible teaching deliveries and offer subjects throughout the year. We offer a range of double degrees as well as the ability to undertake majors and minors in Politics, Philosophy, and International Studies within the Bachelor of Arts and other courses of study.
La Trobe’s Politics, Media and Philosophy subjects rank in the top 200 in the world, and we rank in the top 10 universities in Australia for Philosophy, Politics & International Studies, and Social Policy & Administration (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018).
