Water is our most precious resource, but with climate change posing a very real threat to supplies we need to find better ways to manage it.
Our researchers Professor Susan Lawrence, Dr Peter Davies and Associate Professor Ewen Silvester are looking to the past for answers. They’re examining the water infrastructure that was built to sustain the Victorian goldfields in the 19th century. These innovative mining methods informed the development of complex municipal water supply systems for cities, leading to today’s private ownership laws and water allocation practices.
