Frequently asked questions

Why are Open Days helpful?

Open Day is your opportunity to get a feel for the campus, facilities and social environment you could be studying in. Over the course of the day, you’ll be able to attend presentations on your chosen discipline as well as speak to academic staff and current La Trobe students about your preferred course.

You’ll also have access to our Career Ready team, who’ll be available throughout the day to answer your questions and provide career advice.

Do I need to book or register for Open Day?

We encourage all guests to register to attend our Open Day events – knowing approximate attendance numbers helps us to plan sessions accordingly and ensure we cater to the needs of our visitors.

If you’re attending Open Day at Shepparton or Mildura, you are required to register your attendance and choose workshops and sessions you’d like to attend.

How do I get to my preferred campus?

Where can I park?

Check the car parking options for your preferred campus at our Transport Central hub.

How will I find my way around campus?

There will be plenty of signs to help you find your way around on Open Day. If you’re having any trouble, look for a La Trobe volunteer (you’ll know them by their red shirts). You can also download maps for all our campuses.

How can I work out which sessions to attend?

Get your hands on the Open Day Program for your preferred campus and take a look at the sessions available – most of them will have a description to help you determine if it will be of interest. If you can’t make a session, remember that every area of study will be represented on Open Day, so you’ll be able to find academics and students to help answer your questions.

Is Open Day accessible if I have a disability?

For future students and visitors with a disability or ongoing medical condition who plan to attend Open Day, please contact the Equality and Diversity Centre on (03) 9479 2900 (voice) or (03) 9479 2095 (TTY) or SMS 0407 090 366, should you require extra support for your visit.

If you require the services of an AUSLAN interpreter on Open Day, please contact the Equality and Diversity Centre at least one week prior to Open Day so this service can be arranged.

Large print event programs will also be available upon request. If you need directions or help on the day, a campus guide can escort you to the general information centre for assistance.

Can I bring family or friends?

Absolutely – we encourage you to bring family members or friends to Open Day.

Will I be able to look at accommodation facilities?

Yes, there will be tours and information sessions run throughout the day. Check out the Open Day planner and plan your day in advance so you don’t miss out.

How do I apply for a course?

Once you’ve decided you want to study at La Trobe, it’s time to start thinking about the application process. Find out more about applying for an undergraduate degree.

I’m a parent. How can I find out more about supporting my child through the transition from high school to uni?
