Exhibition a first for art institute

Bendigo's new La Trobe Art Institute will hold its inaugural exhibition on Thursday, November 13.

The exhibition combines for the first time the work of La Trobe University graduating arts and honours students – and provides an opportunity for visitors to buy selected items from up and coming artists.

Launched by renowned central Victorian artist Dr John Wolseley and La Trobe Art Institute Director, Neil Fettling, the exhibition will be held at the Bendigo Campus's Visual Arts Building and Phyllis Palmer Gallery.

Bachelor of Visual Arts student and exhibition curator, Lori Duncan, said the works include painting and drawing, photography, ceramics, and graphic design.

Ms Duncan said the works will be on show for a month on all floors of the Visual Arts Building at the La Trobe University Bendigo Campus.

Graduating students Katrina Larsen and Tony Day will MC the evening.

The 'Exit' exhibition will run from Thursday November 13 to Tuesday December 16 2014. Opening hours are from 9am to 5pm weekdays. Catalogues and art works will be available for purchase.
