Mr Lee comes to La Trobe University with extensive senior marketing experience in consulting and professional services, government and the higher education sector.
Professor John Rosenberg, Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President of La Trobe University, says that Mr Lee’s expertise will assist the University to achieve the ambitious goals set out in Future Ready, the University’s Strategic Plan released late last year.
‘Matthew's extensive experience in a range of industries, government and higher education will bring new strengths to our Marketing and Engagement Division,’ says Professor Rosenberg. ‘La Trobe has a strong focus on internationalisation, particularly in relation to Asia. We are looking forward to the knowledge and experience that Matthew will bring from his work in the Asia Pacific region.’
Mr Lee cites the ‘world of ideas’ as one of his passions, which drives his interest in working within the higher education sector. He enjoys the process of shaping and using ideas to inform the wider public, as well as to deliver commercial outcomes.
‘I look forward to joining the team at La Trobe and working with them to achieve the University's vision,’ says Mr Lee. ‘There is a history of community engagement at La Trobe, and I am keen to build on this heritage during the University's next stage of development.
‘It's an exciting time to join the University, and to have the opportunity to bring its compelling message to its partners and the wider community.’
Mr Lee’s previous roles include General Manager of Marketing with PMP Ltd, National Marketing Manager at Philips Fox (now DLA Piper), and Manager Corporate Programs within Technisearch Limited, RMIT University's commercial arm.
Mr Lee will commence in the role of Chief Marketing Officer on Tuesday 23 April 2013.
