The students will be formally welcomed to La Trobe by Campus Director Andrew Skewes, at an event to be held this Friday 1 March.
Bendigo attracts students from all over the world
La Trobe’s Bendigo campus has attracted students from a diverse range of countries including Tanzania, Vanuatu, Saudi Arabia, Ireland and the Philippines, to name just a few.
Kuwaiti students have the highest enrolment rate (20 students) and the Bachelor of Pharmacy is the most popular choice among international students (34 students). The Bachelor of Civil Engineering did well with 11 students enrolling for the course.
The biggest intake of international students in years
Mr Skewes says that the strong intake of international students is positive. ‘We’re delighted with the numbers, as this is the biggest intake of international students for several years. These students bring vibrancy and diversity to the campus,’ says Mr Skewes.
‘The high intake reaffirms Bendigo’s status as a top-class university city, with an international reputation.
‘This strong intake of international students represents a great opportunity for their local counterparts to meet people from different cultures and with different life experiences. It also adds to the multicultural nature of the Bendigo community.’
