La Trobe Business School was proud to launch their new MBA at Zinc in Melbourne’s Federation Square on Wednesday August 16 to an audience of industry leaders, alumni and potential new MBA students.
For more than 15 years the La Trobe MBA has been the cornerstone of La Trobe Business School’s offerings, producing world-ready graduates and a new generation of responsible leaders. The new MBA is a program which will produce graduates with an understanding that responsible management is as much about financial responsibility as it is about social and environmental sustainability.
In an effort to ensure La Trobe Business School was continuing to offer the highest-quality program possible, the School embarked on an intensive two-year project led by Professor Gavin Jack, to position the MBA and La Trobe Business School as a leader in the global market for higher education.
Through rigorous development and careful consultation with industry partners and international accrediting bodies La Trobe Business School has developed a new program – and the initial response has been overwhelmingly positive.
The new program incorporates the elements that have in the past given our MBA excellent local and international standing. It is still the first MBA program in Australia and the second in Vietnam to achieve the prestigious European EFMD EPAS accreditation. It remains in the Top 100 globally in the Beyond Grey Pinstripes ranking of MBAs with social impact and is also one of only 10 Australian MBA programs with five-star rating by General Management Association of Australia.
Earlier this month, the first cohort of new La Trobe MBA students joined Vice-Chancellor’s Fellow and former AFL coach Mick Malthouse in an interactive session on leadership development.
’The La Trobe MBA program has been designed around three pillars, designed to graduate competent and responsible leaders. General management remains the backbone of the programs, whilst the UN-backed Principles for Responsible Management Education has informed the curriculum’ says Dr Michal Carrington, MBA Program Director.
‘The key subject that ties the whole degree together is the Boardroom Simulation, an intensive situation where students assume the roles of company executives faced with a realistic business challenges and given 24 hours to respond.’
Making the challenge as realistic as possible, new information will be fed to the students throughout the 24 hour period, offering a real-life simulation like no other.
With this new focus the La Trobe MBA will continue to produce world-ready graduates who will become business leaders both in Australia and around the globe.
