Contextualising law for over 25 years
For over 25 years Australia’s leading journal for the contextual study of law - Law in Context - has published important work exploring the context and operation of law in Australia and internationally.
To mark the 20th anniversary of La Trobe Law School this prolific peer-reviewed publication, edited from La Trobe Law School and published by The Federation Press, will present a special Issue celebrating socio-legal scholarship and the contribution of a number of former La Trobe University academics to this area of scholarship both nationally and internationally.
La Trobe Law School recently held a workshop to provide a venue to discuss the content of the special issue which was attended by key staff and contributors to the journal, along with Professor Paula Baron, Head of La Trobe Law School and Editor of the journal.
‘Perceptions of socio-legal scholarship have developed and evolved over time’ says Professor Baron.
‘This workshop indicated that socio-legal scholarship now encompasses a diverse range of intellectual streams, these are developments that we should be celebrating whilst looking towards the future.’
The special edition: ‘A Celebration of Socio-Legal Scholarship: Initiating, Facilitating, and Expanding New and Old Pathways’ is a timely theme for La Trobe Law School as it reaches its 20th anniversary milestone, a time when the school reflect on its own pathway through history and into the future.
