Uni offers helping hand
The Victorian floods are having a major impact on the communities around our regional campuses.
Given that it is highly likely that some members of staff will be directly affected and others will have family and friends in flood affected areas, the University has offered help. On Friday 21 January messages went out via email, the University’s website, Facebook (facebook.com/latrobe) and Twitter (@latrobenews) in an effort to connect with those in need.
La Trobe University’s returning students may be experiencing loss of property and isolation. If text books and other necessary items have been lost due to floods, the University can help. The email address email@example.com has been set up so that requests for assistance can be centrally monitored and responded to.
New students who should have received an offer in the first round may have difficulty with the enrolment process because of isolation, interruptions to the post or other related problems. They can seek assistance by calling 1800 774 452 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Staff members who need particular support at this time can find the information about what’s available to them through the University will find information on the intranet.
A free counselling service is available at the University by phone on 03 9479 2956 or email at email@example.com for students and staff who may require it.
Contributions can be made to flood relief funds at http://www.dhs.vic.gov.au/emergency/current-events/floodrecovery. Information on relief centres, financial assistance and health advice and support is also available at this site.
