People from Shepparton and surrounding regions can enjoy performances and exhibitions from Thursday, 10 March at the SheppARTon Festival 2011. La Trobe University, the major sponsor for this year’s festival, will be holding various events on the Fryers Street campus.
Enjoy browsing through the multi-media Portrait Exhibition on display from the 11 – 20 March 2011 around this year’s theme ‘Voices Connect’. It will house artwork created by ‘Splinters Contemporary Artists’ in response to refugee stories collected by volunteers and the GV Writers Group.
Hear the personal and amazing stories of Goulburn Valley’s newest residents at the ‘One on One: Goulburn Valley refugees’ launch. An ABC multimedia project curated and directed by ‘ABC Open’ producer Benj Binks. Stories are told through photos and films produced by the talented local photographers and writers who have recently resettled in Goulburn Valley. Shepparton local Adam Kitungano also a former La Trobe student will share his personal story entitled: Africa is crying. Shepparton is learning: Adams story’.
Get up early Sunday morning 13 March 2011 and join one of Melbourne’s favourite community choir, the ‘Melbourne Mass Gospel Choir’. Following the workshop Music Director Phil Heuzenroeder will conduct his choir of 70 gospel choral singers singing traditional, popular and cutting edge black gospel.
