Mrs Sujatha Singh visits La Trobe

25 Feb 2011

The High Commissioner for India, Mrs Sujatha Singh, will visit La Trobe University Mildura campus on Thursday 24 February during Orientation week.

Sujatha SinghThis will be the High Commissioner for India’s second visit to La Trobe University. Last November, Mrs Singh visited the Melbourne campus to discuss La Trobe's links with India and expressed hope that work at La Trobe would help to highlight the long term relationship that has existed between India and Australia.

After meeting with students, alumni and academics last year, Mrs Singh mentioned plans to visit the Mildura campus and surrounding regions and has chosen one of Mildura’s Orientation days to tour the facilities.

‘Orientation week is the perfect opportunity to see how the Mildura campus operates academically and as a community. Being a smaller campus, we hope Mrs Singh will see the benefits our local and international students have through teaching and learning,’ Says Neil Fettling, Executive Director of the Mildura campus.

Along with the Orientation day activities, Mrs Singh will tour the campus, view puppets Indigenous students are making for the Mardi Gras through the Koori Education Centre as well as enjoy lunch with staff and students.
Mrs Singh will meet with Mr Fettling, Cr Vernon Knight, Mildura Rural City Councillor and Regional Advisory Board, Liz Stinson, Director of La Trobe International and representatives from the La Trobe and Indian community.
