Laurens Tan in Bendigo
The theme of this year’s Thesis Eleven Festival of Ideas is Word, Image, Action and focuses on contemporary popular print and visual cultures at a time of increasing traffic between the local and the global, the regional and the national.
As part of the Thesis Eleven Festival the La Trobe University Centre for Creative Arts and the La Trobe Visual Arts Centre is pleased to sponsor Arena: a post boom Beijing.
Laurens Tan, the curator of this exhibition, has brought this selection of cutting edge screen-based works to the Festival and to Victoria, with exhibitions in Melbourne and Bendigo. The exhibitions in Bendigo resonate particularly well with that city’s rich Chinese heritage as well as its current profile as a significant arts centre – a regional arts hub.
Laurens will be present a floor talk this Sunday 12 June at 2.00pm, in conjunction with screenings of Arena: a post boom Beijing, at the La Trobe University Visual Arts Centre, 121 View Street, Bendigo. Bookings are not required and entry is free.
