Albury-Wodonga campus Enrolment Day 2011

La Trobe University’s Albury-Wodonga campus will hold its main Enrolment Day on Thursday 27 January, from 10.00am to 1.00pm.

Students enrolling on computers Close to 400 places are available to undergraduate students, with offers being made through both the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) and the University Admissions Centre (UAC) in NSW.

The majority of students come from within Victoria and NSW/ACT.  Mature-age applicants continue to apply to the Albury-Wodonga campus in significant numbers and they come from a wide range of occupational and educational backgrounds.

Many students now take advantage of early round enrolments, mail enrolments and individual appointments.  Nearly 150 students are expected to enrol in person on the day, selecting courses from eight areas of undergraduate study: Accounting, Business (including Diploma level), Humanities/Social Sciences, Human Services/Social Work, Health Sciences (Speech Pathology & Podiatry), Nursing, Psychology and Sciences (Environmental Management and Ecology, Biological & General).

Professor Lin Crase, Executive-Director of the Albury-Wodonga campus, says he is delighted to see the strong uptake for courses on the campus.

‘We are excited to see the growing interest in postgraduate courses and the number of overseas students interested in undertaking research degrees with us,’ he says.

Postgraduate students can also enrol in a wide variety of programs over the next two months, with over 40 students already enrolled in the innovative new Master of Teaching (P-12) course.

‘In addition to traditional demand for teaching, business and accounting and the range of exciting health sciences courses, we are also seeing interest in other fields like Arts and Environmental Management.

‘This is partly explained by the many different ways of accessing these courses, such as undertaking the first year as a Diploma. We are confident this type of innovation will help regional Victorians find the transition to tertiary study more inviting and accessible,’ Lin says.

Vacancies after the initial enrolment phase will be taken up in subsequent offer rounds during February. Classes are scheduled to commence later that month, following an Orientation Program for new students.
