A big welcome to new students

A big welcome to new students

25 Feb 2011

La Trobe University’s Albury-Wodonga campus will start off its first semester in 2011 with three days of Orientation activities beginning Wednesday 23 February.

Albury-Wodonga LibraryEach of the three days, February 23-25, will begin at 9.00 am and will include activities to familiarise students with their courses, the staff and the facilities. The Student Association activities will have a social focus, encouraging students to mix and meet other students and staff.

The Orientation activities will include faculty sessions, parent information sessions, campus and library tours, lunchtime barbeques and entertainment, and a range of study skills workshops including computer lab training.

Professor Lin Crase, Executive Director of the Albury-Wodonga campus, says, ‘the campus continues to be a critical part of the social and economic fabric of the region with students coming from near and far to take advantages of studying at a modern regional campus while still being able to access the University’s broader resources.’

Over 350 commencing students have already enrolled in the variety of courses on offer at the Albury-Wodonga campus, with additional postgraduate students still to enrol. Students come from a range of different locations including Albury-Wodonga and surrounding towns and cities and further afield within Victoria and NSW/ACT.

“All faculties are now offering courses on this campus and the breadth of courses is set to expand even further in 2011 with several high-profile degrees currently under development.  The additional student accommodation that will be built throughout the year will support this growth,’ says Professor Crase.

The welcome address to new students will take place at the Student Association building (The Hangar) at 9.00am on Wednesday 23 February and will be followed by a campus and library tour.
