Pharmacy wins again

Pharmacy wins again

11 Aug 2010

La Trobe University’s Tristen Pogue has won the Victorian Pharmacy Student of the Year.

pharmacy-awardThis is the third consecutive year that a Bendigo campus student has won the award and makes a total of four out of six possible wins for La Trobe University.

Head of the university’s pharmacy department, Dr Michael Angove said the competition is run and judged by the pharmacy professionals and requires students to counsel patients in a role-play situation.

‘This is a fantastic achievement for Tristen and La Trobe University, given that the students face stiff competition.

‘I think it also a great testament to the sort of course we have put together here. Much of the credit for the course must go to pharmacy lecturer, Joy Spark and Emeritus Professor, Kenn Raymond, who have worked terribly hard to establish a curriculum that is quite different from other courses and produces students who are clearly very impressive to the professional organisations within pharmacy. We earn a great deal of prestige by being successful in this competition.’
