Mr Brown retired this month after 34 years of service to the university. Commencing his career at the university as a salaries officer for the then State College of Victoria, Mr Brown worked his way through the ranks and was appointed in January 2006 to the position of Manager, Human Resources, Bendigo campus.

He retained this role until January 2007 when he became Manager, Employment Contracts and Probation, a position that he held until his retirement earlier this month.

Amongst his many contributions to the university, Mr Brown is credited for the design and implementation of policies in human resource management and the development and implementation of a campus emergency management plan. He has assisted staff and students in his capacity as a Justice of the Peace and has provided advice to a range of Pro Vice-Chancellors and Directors of the Bendigo campus throughout the university’s previous incarnations.

Bendigo campus executive director, Mr Andrew Skewes said the award is well deserved. ‘Kevin is known for the highest level of commitment, professionalism, integrity, loyalty and respect for staff and students and it would be difficult to name someone more deserving of this award.’

The award presentation at a recent ceremony met with resounding applause from the many colleagues who have worked with Mr Brown during his time at the university.
