Career website to help local students

La Trobe University has established a new career website for local employers to promote career pathways for students of the Shepparton Campus who want to study, live and build a career within their local community.

It is hoped that new web site will help inform current students about career opportunities for graduates in the region.

‘Our career portal is a free service offered to local employers and everyone is welcome to participate. The website is designed to help employers promote their business to students,’ said La Trobe Shepparton’s Executive Director, Liz Lavender.

‘It will also help give students a sense of the range of opportunities a company provides as well as a quick and convenient link to an employer’s site,’ she said.

Ms. Lavender said the website will provide information about graduate programs, mentoring opportunities, work placement and ongoing employment.

Local businesses and organisations looking for graduates are encouraged to attend the launch on Thursday June 10 at the Welsford street campus to find out how they can get involved with this new initiative.

Everyone is welcome to attend the launch.  It will be held at the La Trobe University Administration Building in Welsford Street from 5.00 pm – 7.00 pm on Thursday 10 June 2010.
