3D exhibition energise young artists

Artist Patsy Killeen will showcase her new work OPTIC CARTOONS: They got up and did it aagain at the La Trobe University Visual Arts Centre during March.

art gallery The work features cartoon figurative drawing on large layers of fabric producing an optical 3D effect. Patsy says she was inspired by early Walt Disney cell animation, street art and the work of the creators of the Ren and Stimpy and Ratfink cartoons.

Patsy has used tea cups, pencils and mobile phones woven into distorted and grotesque figures to “subtly hint at my own concerns on current personal, social and political issues in the ironic and playful energy of cartoons.”

Patsy is a recent graduate of La Trobe University’s Visual Arts honours program.

OPTIC CARTOONS: They got up and did it aagain runs from 3 March – 28 March and will be launched 2-4pm, Saturday 6 March at the Visual Arts Centre, 121 View Street, Bendigo.
