New Deputy Vice Chancellor appointed
La Trobe University is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor John Rosenberg to the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Future Students).
Professor Rosenberg is a distinguished academic, renowned for his innovations in the teaching and research sectors as well as being a highly sought-after partner within industry, government and community projects.
La Trobe Vice-Chancellor, Professor Paul Johnson said Professor Rosenberg’s appointment will be a driving force in the University’s endeavour to achieve its long-term strategic goals.
“Professor Rosenberg’s proficiency and expertise in the higher education and research sectors will be of great benefit to the University. He also brings to La Trobe his extensive experience working with variety of peak bodies and committees,” said Professor Johnson.
Professor Rosenberg, who currently holds the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) at Deakin University, is responsible for pursuing an agenda of excellence in teaching and learning for that university.
“I am thrilled at the prospect of joining La Trobe at such an important time for the University,” said Professor Rosenberg.
“Under the leadership of Paul Johnson and his team, La Trobe is undergoing rapid and impressive change, and I am eager to join such a talented and energetic team.”
For part of his time at Deakin, Professor Rosenberg was responsible for the internationalisation portfolio, in which he actively engaged with faculties in order to achieve significant growth in student numbers as well as embedding internationalisation into all aspects of the university’s business.
Prior to his post at Deakin, Professor Rosenberg was Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology at Monash University, a faculty that, at the time, was the largest and most diverse IT academic grouping in Australia. Professor Rosenberg has also held senior roles at the University of Sydney and the University of Newcastle and was a Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Computational Science at the University of St Andrews, Scotland.
Professor Rosenberg will take up his new position with La Trobe on 19 August.
