La Trobe visits help students

La Trobe visits help students

16 Jun 2009

As VCE students receive their ENTER scores today, a series of visits to regional schools this week will help to inform students on the change of preference options for university study.

Student with bookLa Trobe University staff are visiting schools around central and northern Victoria to talk to students about what is available at La Trobe University.

Executive director of the Bendigo campus, Andrew Skewes said that while not all schools can be included in the visits, there are other opportunities for students to get the information that they need.

‘We appreciate that this is a critical time for students entering higher education and we are committed to providing as much assistance as we can to help them make their choice,’ Mr Skewes said.

‘As well as the visits to some regional schools, students are invited to take part in a Bendigo campus tour on Friday and enjoy a pizza lunch. They can also visit the La Trobe University stand in the Market Place on Saturday.’

Mr Skewes said that La Trobe University’s Bendigo campus has a great selection of new and popular courses in all disciplines.

‘There are a whole host of courses on offer in areas such as health, education, pharmacy, engineering, science, technology, business and law.

‘Many of our students comment on the benefits of studying locally, particularly the more intimate relationships they enjoy with staff and fellow students in smaller class sizes. Others like being able to study close to home.’

Students wishing to know more about studying at La Trobe have several options. A new service this year is the instant messaging style online live chat via a link from La Trobe University’s website at or direct link via
