World Ready: La Trobe in 2017

The rapidly changing higher education environment, La Trobe’s approaching 50th birthday in 2017, and a new senior leadership team, make this the right time to take stock of the University’s achievements and to reset our aspirations for the future.

These aspirations will be articulated through a renewed Strategic plan.
The creation of such a plan requires thorough and robust consultation with staff, students and the many external stakeholders of La Trobe University.

In the video below, Professor John Dewar is interviewed by Mr Erdem Koç, Lecturer in the Journalism Program and La Trobe Post graduate student. The discussion covers aspects of the Strategic directions paper 'World Ready: La Trobe in 2017' as well as the consultation process now being undertaken.

Development of a new Strategic Plan

There are three phases in this process:

Phase 1 – Consultation:  Distributing the Strategy discussion paper and gathering feedback from stakeholders

Phase 2 – Writing:  Incorporating feedback into the renewed Strategic plan

Phase 3 – Implementation: Rolling out the renewed Strategic plan across the University and developing action plans for the various units in their particular contexts

Phase 1 - Consultation

Staff of La Trobe University and other stakeholders in the University's future are invited to submit feedback on the discussion paper. The closing date for submissions is July 31, 2012. Feedback will be collated and sorted into themes for the consideration of the four specialist working parties:

  1. Teaching and Learning (including e-learning)
  2. Research
  3. Regional Strategy and TAFE partnerships
  4. Resources

Once collated and summarised, feedback will be made available on the intranet for final comment until August 31 prior to the Strategic plan being written in September.
