Vitamin D deficiency focus of case study presented in Dublin
Professor Gillian Sullivan Mort presented a competitive paper seminar at the 2nd Global Social Marketing Conference in Dublin in April. The paper draws attention to the danger of unintended consequences in population level social marketing / health promotion programs.
It specifically looks at a case study if the incidence of Vitamin D deficiency in the Australian population and asks whether a specific campaign is now needed to encourage ‘Sensible Sun’ exposure after the decades long SunSmart / Slip, Slop , Slap initiatives. The paper was co-authored by Prof Linda Brennan of RMIT.
