Further Step in Strategic Cooperation between La Trobe and Peking Unviersity
On 26 May 2011 the Nineth CCS Board meeting brought together the Board members from both China and Australia to the China Centre at La Trobe University. Vice Chancellor and President Professor Paul Johnson chaired the meeting and welcomed all members, particularly Executive Vice President Wu Zhipan who represented Peking University.
On the meeting the Board discussed the future development of the Centre and further explored cooperation between the three partner universities-La Trobe University, Peking University and Beijing Foreign Studies University. Many constructive suggestions were given on the Centre's programs and activities including future collaboration between the Centre and the Confucius Institute which will be established at La Trobe University at the end of this year, the development of the Australia-China Student Forum, joint research projects, etc.
"I was pleased to see the development of the Centre for China Studies in the past few years and particularly impressed with its achievements in student exchanges and joint research. The University's support to the Centre will be as strong as always." said Professor Johnson. Professor Wu said that PKU will give full support to the Centre and LTU and PKU can develop more collaboration in arts and winery education through this platform.
On behalf of the Centre, Professor Pei Likun, Executive Director thanked all Board members for their continuous support and contribution to the development of the Centre.
The next Board meeting will be held in Peking University in early November 2011.
