Further Collaborations between La Trobe University and Peking University
Professor John Rosenberg, Deputy Vice Chancellor (International and Development) accompanied by Professor Pei Likun (Executive Director of Centre for China Studies, LTU) and Ms Jacqui Martin (Executive Director Marketing & Engagement LTU) visited Peking University on 10th March, 2011. Professor Wu Zhipan, Executive Vice President of Peking University, hosted the reception meeting at the Linhuxuan, along with Dr Xia Hongwei (Director of Office of International Relations, PKU), Gao Dai (Associate Dean of Graduate School, PKU), Zhang Xiuhuan (Director of Hanban office in PKU) , Zhang Yan (Director Overseas Projects, Scientific Research Department, PKU) and Ms Luo Lin Program Officer of International Relations.
The purpose of this visit was to promote communications and further collaborations between the two universities. Prof. Rosenberg said, with the increasing popularity of Chinese culture across Australia, students there were looking forward to sharing their research experiences with their peers in renowned Chinese universities. LTU proposed a two-year dual degree program for postgraduates from LTU and PKU. To strengthen research collaborations between the two universities, a delegation of La Trobe comprised senior management and high profile researchers will visit PKU to further investigate opportunities for joint research this September.
Professor Wu Zhipan warmly welcomed the visit while recognizing the potential benefits of further communications and cooperation between the two universities, Professor Wu expected a wider bridge of academic collaboration and full-blown friendship in the future.
