eBMS donation of software and support
Students from the Masters of Business Information Management and Systems (MBIMS) degree at La Trobe University have been given the chance to work on live projects through Mr Denis Rosler the CEO at eBMS. eBMS is a local Information Systems company that specialises in Business Intelligence for small, medium and large scale businesses. Dr Catherine Wang, who teaches our twin capstone MBIMS subjects: 'Business Intelligence Project Design' and 'Business Intelligence Project Implementation' says that a particular strength of this relationship is the opportunity to work closely with eBMS staff in using this software. With the support from eBMS, students will have better opportunity in delivering high quality projects, especially for real live projects.
Dr Suzanne Zyngier, the Executive Director of the Masters of Business Information Management and Systems programs is delighted that 'our students have the opportunity to apply many of the aspects covered in their whole program of studies through undertaking project planning, analysis, and design of real world business intelligence system'. She adds further that the students work in small groups and are required to prepare project planning, analysis, design and implementation documents. They also need to produce deliverables to meet the project requirements and present reports to the project management team. This is a true application of skills acquired during our course that was recently accredited by the Australian Computer Society.
This relationship affirms the School of Management's commitment to interaction with the local community and to strong links with industry. The School of Management is very pleased that the eBMS donation strengthens these ties.
