Students attend Carlton's YCP luncheon

Six La Trobe University students attended Carlton's YCP business of sport luncheon last Friday as part of our new sport partnership.

La Trobe University Sport Management students were given the opportunity to attend the Young Carlton Professionals Business of Sport luncheon last Friday as part of the new sport partnership between La Trobe and the Blues.

The Young Carlton Professionals are a member based network created to connect like-minded individuals in a place they can build networks and stimulate thinking.

The event, which was hosted by Network Seven and SEN’s Jason Richardson, gave attendees special insights from the club, including an address from senior coach Brendon Bolton.

Bolton spoke to the crowd about the Blue’s on field improvement in 2016 and his plan for sustained success at Ikon Park in the future.

A panel of media professionals consisting of Tim Lane, Sam Lane and Sam McClure spoke after lunch about the current media landscape and pressing issues in sport and football.

These speakers provided the six La Trobe students unique information about working in the sports industry while juggling personal values and beliefs, knowledge valuable to undergraduates about to enter the full time work force.

La Trobe University hopes to provide students with more personal development opportunities as part of the partnership, along with greater access to internships for students, a focus on collaborative research and help delivering school and community outreach programs.
