In the words of Nick Vecci, there's a gap between those students that can afford postgraduate study and those that can't. Until recently, Nick would have placed himself firmly in the latter category. 'My drive and ambition couldn't be questioned,' he said, 'but I just didn't have access to the financial means.' With the help of the David Morgan Scholarship, however, Nick's dreams of postgraduate study are fast becoming a reality.
The first of its kind
The David Morgan Scholarship is the first award of its kind at La Trobe, offering La Trobe's best-performing students the opportunity to study a Master's degree overseas. The scholarship, funded by Dr David Morgan OAM, covers the $45,000 tuition fees for a Master's degree at one of the world's most prestigious universities - the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). It's an unprecedented opportunity for La Trobe's highest-achieving Economics and Commerce students.
An outstanding academic
Nick Vecci, an Economics Honours student, was selected for this award due to his excellent academic results. A passionate and diligent student, Nick is understandably thrilled about the opportunity this coveted award presents. 'I'm sure there's lots of other ways he [David Morgan] could've spent money,' says Nick, 'but I'm just over the moon really that I've been given the opportunity to study at such a great university.'
