The Confucius Institute invited representatives from local schools without established Chinese language programs to a Chinese Food Culture and Luncheon Event on 6 December 2013. Attendees received a short presentation on Chinese food culture and shared a buffet-style meal of typical Chinese dishes.
Through the sharing of food, the sharing of ideas flowed. Potential partnerships and opportunities for collaboration were discussed on how to bring Chinese cultural experiences to students generally to benefit their learning in this Asian Century. Opportunities to support the schools in servicing Chinese-background EAL (English as an Additional Language) students were also explored.
The Institute looks forward to working with these potential partners in 2014 to develop and implement some cooperative programs.
