Students studying financial planning recently enjoyed applying their theoretical learning to solve real-life work issues during a special workshop.
As part of the workshop, students attended an investment technical session run by a leading industry expert from UniSuper and also participated in a strategy workshop. The strategy workshop helped them to develop their communication and soft skills in an industry-based learning environment.
'The workshop brought together a mix of students studying Financial Planning and Investments who are looking at entering the financial planning and services industry', said Mr Marc Olynyk, Senior Lecturer in Financial Planning and the coordinator of the workshop.
'The workshop is a regular feature of our Financial Planning program and is a joint initiative of La Trobe Business School and UniSuper, one of Australia's leading superannuation funds.'
It was led by Mr Graham Eggins, Regional Manager Southern at UniSuper, supported by various members of his team.
Mr Olynyk praised the partnership, emphasising UniSuper's commitment to developing the next generation of professional financial planners.
La Trobe Business School is one of the market leaders in financial planning education in Australia. The Financial Planning program places considerable emphasis and importance on giving students a range of work-based learning opportunities during their course, to ensure they have the practical skills they will need when they enter the rapidly-expanding financial sector.
