How does the Smithsonian do it?

New ways to capture and share research data

Thornton Staples, a world-leading research administrator/digital library pioneer/"evangelist for digitization", who is from the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, is coming to talk to us at La Trobe University about SIdora.

SIdora is a researcher/desktop software environment which helps capture and organise digital "evidence" during research – and can integrate with repositories, particularly Fedora and Islandora.

"SIdora makes data management worth doing for the researcher because it gives them an advantage in their research" according to Thornton Staples.

This session will give you an insight into how researchers at the Smithsonian are developing new more effective ways of doing this.
