La Trobe University has announced an exciting new initiative, providing all alumni (which includes graduates and former students and staff) with free access to a range of online library resources.
In response to a growing need from graduates for access to high-quality information and resources, the University is also strengthening its ties with alumni in more than 100 countries .
The initiative waives an existing $88 online access fee for select resources including scholarly databases and research journals, making La Trobe University the first Victorian university to provide its former students with free library access.
Alumni officer Katie Armitage said La Trobe University recognises that learning does not cease on graduation. ‘We are aware access to high-quality information, regardless of where people live, plays an important role in the continuing education of our alumni. The La Trobe University Library offers some of the best resources in Australia for this,’ she said.
To access free library membership, alumni are invited to sign-up to La Trobe University’s free online community, AlumniConnect.
Those seeking to borrow materials at campus libraries may do so for a one-off $25 borrowing card fee.
