Top nine things to look forward to at Open Day 2019

You’ve done the research and read the guides, now visit us on campus to find your clever.

Open Day is your chance to get to know La Trobe before you start your course in Semester 1. There’s loads of important information to take in, activities to enjoy and food options to explore.

We’ve pored over everything happening at Open Day across each of our campuses this year, picking out the things you definitely shouldn’t miss.

See you there.

1. Use your clever to win great prizes

Some people are good at numbers, others are emotionally intelligent or mechanically minded. Try your hand at our ‘Use Your Clever’ activation to find out what kind of clever you are and win an instant prize. It’s like a vending machine, but one that accepts clever instead of cash.

Which campuses? Melbourne, Bendigo, Albury-Wodonga, Mildura and Shepparton.

2. Take a virtual reality tour

Our health students get to practise what they learn in our clinical schools, located at hospitals such as the Alfred. We can’t bring the Alfred to campus, but you can explore our Alfred Clinical School at Open Day thanks to our virtual reality tours.

3. Get hands-on and see where your passion could take you

Build your own robot, extract DNA from a strawberry, decipher the hidden code in medical language, care for a ‘sim’ patient or baby, trade on the stock market, sit in a mock court proceeding or present in front of the TV cameras in our media facilities.

There are many ways to learn. Dig your hands in and try out the skills you could build at La Trobe.

At La Trobe, you won’t just learn from books and lectures. You’ll develop practical skills inside and outside of class. Experience what it’s like with our staff and students on Open Day.

From clever vending machines to virtual reality tours and expert discussions, there’ll be plenty of activities to get involved in at Open Day.

4. See where you could study

La Trobe is home to some excellent facilities. See our TV studio and theatre, human anatomy rooms or cybersecurity lab at Melbourne, the new engineering building at Bendigo or the stunning Sydney Campus library that overlooks the harbour. Get familiar with where you could study and spend time with new friends with a campus tour.

Which campuses? Melbourne, Albury-Wodonga, Sydney and Bendigo.

5. Get your Aspire application sorted

Through the Aspire program, you can be rewarded for your community contributions with an early offer to La Trobe. You’ll also be able to access Year 12 exam support and our exclusive Enrichment Program. Visit the Aspire hub at Open Day to ask any questions you may have, meet our Aspire ambassadors and get your application reviewed before you submit it.

Uni is your gateway to your future career, so it’s not surprising that you might have some questions about finding the right course to get you there.

8. Take advantage of a one-on-one consultation
