Almost\u00a0done\u2026 but\u00a0not quite ready\u00a0to leave.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You spend years working towards your final semester – 
and then, when it finally arrives, you realise you\u2019re not entirely ready for it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On paper, this is everything you\u2019ve been waiting for. 
The last few assignments. 
The finish line. 
All the hard work finally coming together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But somewhere in the middle of it all, something shifts.\u00a0
It hit me in a way I\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0expect.\u00a0
A friend I recently made was talking about\u00a0the\u00a0Residential\u00a0Ball\u00a0–\u00a0how much fun it was going to be, how we should go together, how\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0one of those events you\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0want to miss.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

And all I could think was\u2026 
I won\u2019t be here. 
I graduate in May. 
And suddenly, it wasn\u2019t just one event. It was everything that came with it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All the little moments that made uni what it is: the spontaneous plans, the campus events, the routines you don\u2019t even realise you\u2019ve built. 
That\u2019s when it sinks in. 
You\u2019re not just finishing university. 
You\u2019re leaving a version of your life behind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

People always say the friends you make in your first semester\u00a0aren\u2019t\u00a0the ones you leave with.\u00a0
I used to think that was a bit dramatic.\u00a0
Turns out,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0not.\u00a0
At the start, you become friends with whoever is around.\u00a0You\u2019re\u00a0just trying to find your people, your space, your sense of belonging. And sometimes, those friendships fade\u00a0-not because anyone did anything wrong, but because they were never meant to last.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

And then there are the ones that do.\u00a0
I had a friend who lived on my floor.\u00a0\u00a0
We were inseparable\u00a0–\u00a0each other\u2019s support system, seeing each other every day.\u00a0
When she graduated, we said what everyone says:\u00a0
\u201cWe won\u2019t let distance affect our friendship.\u201d\u00a0
But life has a way of changing things.\u00a0
Different schedules. A full-time job. Living far away. Routines that\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0align anymore.\u00a0
And just like that, someone you once saw every day becomes someone you see once in three months\u00a0–\u00a0if\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0lucky.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s the paradox. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019re moving forward\u2026 but parts of your life are quietly staying behind. 
And then comes the part no one really prepares you for. 
The real world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the first time,\u00a0there\u2019s\u00a0no next semester to fall back on.\u00a0
It\u2019s not about assignments anymore.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0about rent, jobs, responsibilities:\u00a0building a life from scratch.\u00a0
And for me, that thought is a little scary.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve left my home, my family, my friends \u2014 everything familiar \u2014 to move thousands of miles for a degree I\u00a0truly believed\u00a0in.\u00a0
So the question lingers:\u00a0
What if it\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0work out?\u00a0
What if I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0get the job\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0been working towards?\u00a0
What if everything\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0go the way I planned?\u00a0
Does all of this\u2026 go to waste?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But at the same time, there\u2019s another side to it. 
The part that makes it all worth it. 
Starting fresh. 
Moving out of student accommodation. 
Having a place of my own. 
Working full-time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Calling my mum and my brother over to visit and driving them around in my own car. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Building something that\u2019s mine. 
And hopefully, one day, working in my dream role, in the organisation I\u2019ve always imagined myself in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So here I am.\u00a0
Excited.\u00a0
Nervous.\u00a0
Grateful.\u00a0
A little scared.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All at the same time.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe that\u2019s what the last semester really is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not an ending. 
Not a beginning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But a strange in-between- where everything you\u2019ve built, meets everything you\u2019re about to become. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And maybe the paradox isn\u2019t something you need to solve. 
Maybe it\u2019s just something you need to feel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
