This message was emailed to all students on 15 December 2025<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are deeply shocked and saddened by yesterday\u2019s terrorist attack against the Jewish community who had gathered to celebrate Chanukah in Sydney. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones, first responders and all those in our community affected by these tragic events. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hatred and violence tear at the fabric of our society and must be condemned. Antisemitism, and racism of any kind, has no place in our university community, nor in wider society. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our community brings together people from over 160 countries, speaking around 130 languages, and we are proud to welcome colleagues and students of all faiths. Our diversity is our strength, and everyone should be able to observe, celebrate and express their faith without fear. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s at times like this when it is critical we help build cross-cultural understanding and support, particularly through speaking out against violence and bigotry and by providing an inclusive and safe environment for all students, staff, and visitors to our campuses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the days ahead, please look out for one another\u2014especially colleagues and students who may be directly affected or feeling distressed\u2014and continue to treat every person in our community with care, respect and consideration.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
