La Trobe Student Association are excited to announce that we have just been accredited for the Work and Development Permit Scheme (WDP).
The WDP is an initiative run by the Victorian Government that allows people who are having difficulty paying off their fines the opportunity to reduce their debt by attending financial counselling sessions with one of our qualified staff.
Our financial counsellors can discuss your individual circumstances and your eligibility for the scheme. We can provide ongoing assistance to students to help them work through their financial challenges.
Who is eligible to participate?
Anyone who is currently experiencing one or more of the following:
- Acute financial hardship (including being a Centrelink recipient)
- Family violence
- Mental illness
- Intellectual disability
- Has an addiction to drugs, alcohol, or volatile substances
Participants are required to attend all of the scheduled sessions to be able to take part in this scheme. If you would like more information, you can visit https://www.justice.vic.gov.au/wdp
Any students wishing to participate are encouraged to get in contact with LTSA by phoning 9479 6503 (metro students) or 5444 7354 (regional students).
