Uni’s back next week: here’s what to expect

We can’t wait to welcome you back to campus this semester.  We understand that you may be wondering what campus life is going to look like when you return, so we’ll do our best to explain.

With the Victorian Government health directions continuing to evolve, the University is beginning to offer more learning and student activities on our campuses. Subjects will be offered both face-to-face and online, however some activities (particularly lectures) will remain online for the time being. To find out if you’re required to be on-campus for a face-to-face class, log into Allocate+ to view your timetable.

Keeping yourself and the community safe

Public health guidelines will remain in place in Victoria for some time. Check Victoria’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) regularly for the latest advice on current COVID-19 restrictions. It’s important that you abide by all public health directions so we can continue to provide a safe learning environment for the whole community. If future lockdowns are announced, check the restrictions on Higher education and training to see if you can still go to campus or if you need to study remotely.

Activities that are on campus will comply with strict physical distancing and all spaces will be regularly cleaned in line with COVIDsafe requirements.

Before arriving we encourage you to read the steps you need to take to be COVIDSafe on Campus

What to do between classes

Being mindful that all buildings and rooms have capacity limits, we encourage you to make use of our great outdoor spaces for studying and socialising between classes.

We have many cafés, restaurants, and retail outlets on-campus. Whether you’re looking for a quiet spot for a coffee, a bite to eat, retail shops and services we’ve got plenty of options.

La Trobe Sport offers a variety of ways to take a break from the books with their state-of-the-art facilities. Get in touch with La Trobe Sport to find out how you can engage with their fun sport events and programs all year round.

Keep an eye on student email and LMS updates

Your La Trobe student email is the main way we communicate with you about your studies, including announcements about campus safety and building access. You may also receive updates via the learning management system (LMS)

Available support services

We are committed to providing ongoing, flexible and comprehensive support. All support services will still be available online.

The ASK La Trobe team are here to assist you with all of your general enquiries. You can find answers to common questions in their FAQ database, with links to resources like enrolment support and online forms. They are also running virtual drop-in sessions between 9 February and 12 March 2021, we encourage you to register and attend with any questions you may have. La Trobe International staff will also be available during these sessions.

The Health and Wellbeing team are here to help you with whatever your wellbeing needs may be. The team will continue to provide their services online or over the phone.

Residential students will continue to be supported to live on campus and should contact the Accommodation Services team with any questions.

We are looking forward to welcoming you back in 2021, whether that be online or on campus.
