Welcome new students! In case you didn’t know already, the Library is your best study aid.

The Library is the central hub of each La Trobe University campus. The Library is a place to connect with others, study individually, grab a coffee and borrow a book or two.

The Library also offers a range of study support.

Here are the top 5 things you should check out at the Library during Orientation:

1. Classes and workshops

The Library offers a huge range of classes and workshops that will give you the tips and skills you need to succeed.

There are sessions running throughout Orientation and beyond. Book your spot through the Orientation Planner.

  • Returning to Study
  • Academic Writing for postgrads
  • Assignment Writing for Uni
  • Tips and Tricks for Learning Online
  • Studying in Australia: Tips for Success

2. The Library stall at O Week

Do you have a few burning questions for Library staff? Or maybe you didn’t realise the Library offers a lot more than just books.

Visit the Library’s stall at O Week and the friendly staff can give you all the information you need (you can also score yourself some Library merch!).

Peer Learning Advisors (PLAs) will be there too and ready to answer your questions. PLAs are experienced students specially trained to help you with study and assessments.

3. Campus tours

Join one of the campus O Week tours – they’re the best way to find exactly what you need.

Some of our facilities include:

  • Spaces for group and individual study
  • Online Learning Zone (Bundoora) for your lectures and online classes – you’ll find PCs equipped with webcams and study spaces for your own device
  • Printing, copying and scanning
  • Wi-Fi access
  • Desktop computers
  • Very popular egg chairs (Melbourne (Bundoora) and Bendigo campuses)

4. Online University Reading Lists – for free textbooks and subject readings

For most subjects, textbooks and other readings are FREE online in the University Reading List system.

For easy access to your readings, go to readinglists.latrobe.edu.au and search by your subject code or name. Find your subject code in the Handbook.

5. Library staff

If you can’t find what you’re looking for, the Library staff always happy to answer your questions in person or online.

Find Library staff at each campus library from Monday to Friday 10 am – 4 pm, or contact us online through chat, phone and email from Monday to Friday 9 am – 5 pm.
