La Trobe is pleased to announce that we are planning for the return of more face-to-face classes for Semester 1 2021. These classes will bring students and staff back to our campuses as COVID-19 restrictions continue to ease across Victoria.
We plan to bring back as many classes as we can and hope that most of our subjects will be able to reinstate some form of face-to-face experience for Semester 1 2021. As we plan for the return of more students to our campuses, we are prioritising student and staff safety and working within the guidelines provided by the Victorian Government Department of Health and Human Services.
We are currently revising the Semester 1 timetable, and this will be available to all students from Monday 11 January 2021, please monitor your student email and the LMS for updates.
Some of your classes (particularly lectures) may remain online for the following reasons:
- continuing social distancing requirements that restrict us from accommodating everyone in a suitable venue.
- accessibility for students unable to return to Australia or the state of Victoria.
- accessibility for students and teaching staff with vulnerable health conditions or those restricted from attending campus in person until such point as a COVID-19 vaccine is available.
We understand some students may have missed a range of practical experiences in 2020, but we‘re continuing to find ways for students to complete their required placements with priority given to students nearing graduation. All site-dependent learning activities (field work, site visits, placements etc.) will only proceed in strict adherence to health restrictions.
All student support services will return to face-to-face operations on campus from 8 February 2021. We will continue to provide online access to our services in recognition of the improved access for students this has provided.
All the staff at La Trobe want to thank you for the patience and understanding you have shown across 2020. We wish you all the best for your holidays and look forward to seeing you back on campus in 2021.
