Why not use part of your summer break to get ahead in your studies! This year there are more summer subjects than ever and enrolment for Summer 2025/Term 1 2026 is open now!

You can use Summer School to:

• finish university and start a career sooner
• spread out the workload to a more convenient time
• free up more time for working during the standard semester
• study a subject that could be an elective in your course
• complete a subject that you may have dropped previously (where offered)
• make up for a subject that you failed (where offered).

Dates

Check the Handbook to see which subjects are available during the Summer teaching period.

When using the Handbook search, select from the teaching period filter. Use the filter to find Summer subjects between 17 November and 13 February.

Please note you will need to complete two different searches to see all Summer subjects (i.e. one for subjects starting in 2025 and one for subjects starting in 2026).

Always double-check the Handbook to ensure that your chosen Summer subject is running. Subject instances may change at any time, without warning.

If you’re an undergraduate

You’ll have the opportunity to choose between an Industry Placement or an Industry Project as part of your degree.

Am I eligible?

You are eligible if:

•  you have elective space, and
• you have completed at least 90 credit points

• Uni-Sourced Applications close: 19 Nov 2025
• Student-Sourced Applications close: 13 Feb 2026

Industry Projects

• Project intake closes: 4 February 2026

At La Trobe, our Access Scholarships and Bursaries support coursework students from all walks of life to thrive at university. And they can support students who may have: 

• Faced financial pressures
• Experienced personal hardship
• Come from a disadvantaged or underrepresented background 

How much are they worth? 

Access scholarships start at $5000 per year for your course duration. Bursaries are a minimum $1000 one-off payment 

We also offer merit-based scholarships to recognise academic achievement. These are automatically assessed based on your results and don’t require an application. 

Easy application process 

Applying is simple. You only need to complete one application – we’ll take it from there. If your application is successful, we’ll match you with the scholarship or bursary that best suits your circumstances and eligibility.

Information about VTAC 

All prospective and current La Trobe students can apply for access scholarships through VTAC.  

And remember: You don’t have to apply for a course to submit a scholarship application. 

What you will need to do is create a new VTAC account (this account can be used in future years from this year). For help, check out the VTAC guide on how to create a profile.  There is no charge to create a VTAC account to apply for scholarships.

The UpWrite Student Showcase is a celebration of original creative work produced in our undergraduate writing subjects, including fiction, creative non-fiction, script and screenplays, poetry and protest writing. 

We welcome all students and supporters to come and enjoy the works of our talented students. Refreshments will also be provided. Registrations are essential.
