Spring Study Fest: 29 September 2021

There’s no denying after a Winter in lockdown, we’re excited by the delights of Spring – longer days, warmer weather, blossoming trees, and sunshine. Simply put, Spring is a vibe! 

The Spring Study Fest captures all of this and more with the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people, win prizes and simply feel good about the endless possibilities that come with a new season! Open to all current LTU students, a range of events will run virtually via Zoom from 11am – 4pm on Wednesday 29th September. Over $500 worth of prizes will be up for grabs throughout the day, including Coles & Woolies gift vouchers, La Trobe merchandise packs, and gym passes. You are welcome to drop in to a specific session, or attend the entire festival! 

Did we mention snacks are on us?! Upon registration you will receive a voucher to pre-purchase snacks for the day. Be sure to register by Wednesday 22nd September to be eligible for the voucher.

MORNING SESSIONS

11.00am: Welcome by Student Engagement

11.10am – 12.00pm & 3.00pm – 4pm: Shut Up and Study by Student Hosts

Do you have the best intentions to sit down and study, but find distractions or procrastination gets in the way? Simply enter the session with you study material and let our friendly student Hosts guide you to – SHUT UP AND STUDY!

11.10am – 12.00pm: Student Excellence Academy 

This session is part of the Student Excellence Academy program and access is limited to members. The event will be art focussed, featuring guest speakers and student presentations, followed by a Q&A component. 

11.10am – 12.00pm: Study Skills by The Learning Hub 

Are you reaching your academic potential? Or feeling stuck? Our Peer Learning Advisors (PLAs) will guide you through a simple study skills checklist to help you find out exactly where you’re at. You’ll identify areas for improvement and receive practical advice from experienced students. Join this 1-hour semi-structured session and take your study skills to the next level! 

LUNCH TIME SOCIAL

12.00pm – 12.30pm: Mobility by La Trobe Sport

A great opportunity to get you out of your chair to stretch and flex with our friendly La Trobe Sport team! There will also be information available about free online Pilates and HIIT sessions running throughout lockdown periods.

12.30pm – 2.30pm: Music Hub by LTSA

The La Trobe Student Association are presenting a live music session featuring a guest artist to provide smooth tunes and beats. Bring your lunch, invite your fellow LTU friends, unwind and connect. Prizes will be drawn at random throughout the session. Say hello to paid groceries for the week! There will also be an opportunity to connect with student advisory services.

AFTERNOON SESSIONS

1.30pm – 2.30pm : Supercharge Your Writing by The Learning Hub 

Come along and rev your writing engines with an Academic Skills and Language Advisor from the Learning Hub. Enjoy some guided writing sprints that focus on different ways to generate ideas and get words on the page. Share your study experiences with peers and get some great tips for fast-tracking your productivity and fine-tuning your potential. 

2.00pm – 3.00pm: ASK La Trobe Drop In

Do you need help with understanding your exam timetable, student systems, or anything else at La Trobe? If so, this is the session for you to join. Our friendly ASK La Trobe staff have all the answers! 

2.40pm – 3.00pm: Student Partnerships 

Yearning for an opportunity to connect with your peers? Learn about a range of programs available within the Student Partnerships space, including a guest speaking student leader who will share their experience with the program. 

3.00pm – 4.00pm: Social Hour by Student Partnerships

Fancy yourself as a movie buff? Maybe Baroque history is more your jam? Or do you have an uncanny knack for knowing almost every major capital city in the world?! Come along and flex your knowledge at the final session of the day – student led trivia!
