When you’re feeling unwell and can’t go to work, you shouldn’t have to worry about being unpaid.
In March 2022, the Victorian Government launched the Sick Pay Guarantee pilot in order to ensure that you would never have to worry about being sick during work days or when you need to take care of loved ones. The program was launched to provide sick and carer’s pay for those doing casual or contract work and are unable to work because they are ill, injured or caring for someone, and do not have access to paid leave entitlements.
Fully funded by the Victorian Government, the pilot program provides 38 hours a year of sick and carer’s pay for eligible casual and contract workers in specific jobs, which are paid at the national minimum wage.
The Sick Pay Guarantee engagement team will be visiting our Mildura campus from Tuesday 25 October until Friday 28 October 2022 and will answer any questions you may have.
You can sign up for Sick Pay Guarantee if:
- You have the right to work in Australia
- You are 15 or older
- You work in Victoria
- You work in an eligible job
- You average more than 7.6 hours each week in your job
- You do not receive annual, sick, or carer’s leave in your job
