Shepparton / Wrap your head around the election result with some help from the experts

It was the result few saw coming, but one that’ll be talked about for years to come.

Wondering how the Coalition government won re-election over the hotly tipped Opposition?

Then La Trobe has assembled a team of experts to help you make sense of the 2019 federal vote.

Come and join in the chat from 5.30pm on June 13. Students are free, but you must reserve your place at this link.

Other questions you can expect to hear answered include the role of the media in the election result, as well as the impact attitudes to wards climate and environment played in Australia’s voting behaviour.

It’ll be important to unpack the performance of independent candidates too, especially those in regional areas.

The panellists include:

  • Independent Victorian MP Suzanna Sheed
  • McPherson Media Group Executive Chairman Ross McPherson
  • Associate Professor Andrea Carson
  • The Grattan Institute’s Carmela Chivers

Moderating proceedings will be Professor Lawrie Zion, Director of La Trobe’s Transforming Human Societies Research Focus Area, which is co-hosting the forum with La Trobe’s Centre for the Study of the Inland.
