The Semester 2 census date for coursework students studying at La Trobe campuses has been moved to Thursday 3 September 2020, so you’ll have some extra time to finalise your enrolment this semester.
This change will also apply to subjects that have a non-standard teaching period with a census date that falls between Monday 24 August and Wednesday 2 September.
Your census date will be updated for relevant subjects over the coming weeks and if you’re enrolled in any of these subjects, you’ll see this change in StudentOnLine and will receive an updated Statement of Account to your student email.
The exceptions to this are:
- Online courses run through Open Universities Australia (OUA) and Didasko
- Courses run through Partner institutions (students advised to liaise with their partner institution)
What do I need to do by census date, Thursday 3 September?
You must complete the following three tasks by census:
- Finalise your Semester 2 subjects
- Pay your fees or check if you’re eligible for financial support
- Make sure your personal details match up between La Trobe and the Australian Taxation Office (ATO)
1. Finalise your Semester 2 subjects
After census date, your Semester 2 enrolment is locked in and you’ll be financially and academically responsible for your enrolled subjects.
If you are thinking about adding or withdrawing from subjects, make sure you do it by census. You will now need Subject Coordinator permission to add subjects as self-enrolment is now closed .
Non-standard and online teaching periods:
Thursday 3 September applies to the standard Semester 2, 2020 teaching period and non-standard teaching periods with a census date between Monday 24 August and Wednesday 2 September.
If your subjects run during a non-standard teaching period (outside of the date range listed) or an online teaching period, your original census date will not change. See the census dates webpage for your census date or to access the census date Teaching Period Calculator.
2. Pay your fees or check eligibility for financial assistance
You will need to pay your Semester 2 fees by census date. Instructions for how to pay your fees can be found in your Statement of Account.
Or, if eligible, make sure that your Commonwealth Support (CSP) arrangements are finalised. These arrangements include HECS-HELP and SA-HELP, which you can either pay upfront or defer and pay later. You will need to submit an eCAF and have your tax file number on hand. You can finalise all your CSP arrangements in StudentOnLine.
3. Make sure your personal details match up between La Trobe and the Australian Taxation Office (ATO)
Make sure the personal details you have listed with La Trobe match the details you have given the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). You can check your ATO personal details by creating an account and logging into myGov.
If your details don’t match up, the government can’t confirm your enrolment and this may impact your funding including Centrelink benefits. If you need to, you can update your La Trobe personal details via StudentOnLine.
While you’re in StudentOnLine, update these important details too!
- Personal contact details, especially mobile number, personal email address and physical address
- Emergency contact details, normally the mobile number of a family member or friend
- Next of kin details, this can be the same or different to your emergency contact
- If you’re under 18, we also require your guardian’s information, including their mobile number.
