Reminder of COVID safety measures

The below was emailed to all students on 9 March 2022

While daily case numbers are lower than they were earlier this year, Australia still has relatively high rates of COVID-19. Our Operations team and Health and Safety team continue to monitor and assess COVID safety protocols on behalf of the University, working closely with all business areas.

To protect your own health and safety and that of your fellow students and community members, it’s vital that we all take responsibility for following appropriate COVIDSafe measures and behaviours.

Mask wearing remains an important COVID safety measure and is still strongly encouraged for staff and students, particularly in environments where it may be difficult to physically distance from others, such as crowded indoor or outdoor areas. Research shows that a well-fitted face mask is highly protective against COVID-19. In certain settings, face masks are still mandatory, including where they have been identified as a COVIDSafe control measure for a particular University activity as outlined in its Safety Risk Assessment.

As outlined in our Health & Safety Procedure – COVID-19 Vaccination, it is a requirement that everyone who attends our campuses is fully vaccinated, and vaccination remains one of the most important measures we can take to protect ourselves and our community.

Uploading proof of your vaccination status (minimum double vaccinated) is a requirement for all staff and students before attending any of our campuses. If you have not yet uploaded your vaccination status, please complete the online form before you attend campus.

In some settings, proof of a third dose is mandatory – for instance, for students or staff working in clinical environments or on placement. Please check the specific requirements for your area if you are unsure.

Many of you would also have interacted over the past few weeks with our COVID Marshals, who are doing a fantastic job patrolling our campuses to conduct thousands of vaccination status checks each week. We’ve had positive feedback from staff and students about the presence of these COVID Marshals, and the COVID Marshals have also expressed their appreciation for your understanding when participating in these random checks.

Thank you to everyone for doing your part to keep our La Trobe community as safe as possible.
